When is the Music Learning Spring Tour?

This year we are offering 2 identical Spring Tours to best correspond with most schools’ Spring Break.  It is Saturday, March 8 – Friday, March 14, 2025 and March 15 – March 21, 2025.

Where are we going?

This year we are traveling to Copper, Colorado for a concert tour and ski trip!  While in Copper Resort, we will have time to go skiing and snowboarding in a great ski resort in addition to playing concerts too!  We have scheduled short rest stops along the way.

Click here to view the Spring Tour Information Packet.

Who can come on the Spring Tour?

All Music Learning students, parents, grandparents, and siblings can attend the Spring Tour.  Every band member will perform throughout the tour.  Many families choose to take their entire family on the tour as a fun filled spring vacation.  It is a great way to go skiing and play with the band at the same time!  We strongly recommend that 4th grade students attend with an adult family member.

How do we get there and where do we stay?

Your Spring Tour tuition includes round trip travel by chartered luxury motor coach.  We hire a large, professional bus company with an excellent safety record.  All drivers are full time bus operators.  The busses they have scheduled for us to use feature comfortable seating, electric outlets, a restroom, and WiFi.  Busses will be serviced during the Spring Tour.   All the participants stay in the same ski resort at Copper Mountain.  Our lodge is in the resort village, right on the mountain.

Can we fly to Copper?

YES! (and it is really convenient) This year we will offer an option to fly with other band families from DFW to Colorado.  Denver, CO is about a 90 minute shuttle ride from Copper Mountain.  Private airport transfers for our group are included in your airfare upgrade.

Fly direct from DFW to Denver, CO for an airfare upgrade fee.  Our group flight departs DFW on Sunday, March 9 and March 16 and returns on Thursday, March 13 and March 20 Students attending the tour without an adult will not be able to fly – they will need to ride the bus.  Please e-mail Ken Utz at kutz@musiclearning.org for specific airfare information.

Can we make our own travel arrangements to Copper Mountain?

We have found that the trip is the most positive experience and the best value for parents, students, and the Music Learning staff members when everyone travels together.  The Spring Tour is a ton of fun, but it can also be a tiring week.  The last thing you will want to do is have to drive from DFW to Colorado and then back!  Save the headache and wear and tear on your vehicle by traveling with the band.  All participants in the tour must be registered to perform and to take advantage of our group discounts. Motorcoach travel is automatically included in the Spring Tour pricing.

What if I’ve never been skiing before?  Is there still stuff for me to do on the trip?

You bet!  You’ll be able to schedule a group ski lesson the first day of the trip – you won’t be the only first time skier on tour with the band.  It is surprisingly easy to learn how to ski and with just a little help, almost everyone picks it up quickly.  There are plenty of beginner slopes on Copper Mountain so everyone can feel comfortable skiing, no matter how much or how little experience they have.  There are also a ton of non-skiing activities including tubing, ski bikes, snowcat tours, dog sledding, shopping, and more.

My child is only in fourth grade, do many students his/her age go on this tour?

Absolutely!  Many students from all grade levels attend the Spring Tour.  Last year over 30% of the band students were in the fourth grade.  While not required, we strongly recommend that a parent chaperone attend with younger students.

Are parents required to chaperone the Spring Tour?

This trip is very well chaperoned by the Music Learning Staff, official Tour Medic, and many parent chaperones.  While we do not require that any specific parents chaperone the tour with their child, we do encourage every parent to come.  Often times the most reluctant parents have the most fun on these tours.  Our typical trip student to chaperone ratio is less than 4:1.  Additionally we take numerous safety measures including two-way FCC licensed radio communication between the staff and background checks on all parent chaperones to insure each participant’s safety.  We have an official Tour Medic who dispenses medication and handles any other minor bumps and bruises that could happen on the trip.  Since we are skiing this year, we know many parents will attend this year, too.

Wow, this trip sounds like so much fun with so many activities.  How much can all this cost?

You’re right – this trip is loads of fun jam packed with concerts, attractions, and skiing.  Your trip cost includes motor coach transportation to and from Copper, Lodging, some meals, Lift Tickets, Ski Rentals, and Trip ID & Security Materials.  Your trip package includes unlimited skiing for any 3 of the 4 days, if you would like to ski all 4 days, there is a nominal additional charge for your 4th day lift ticket.  Some meals will be the responsibility of each trip participant.  The trip cost is based on when you choose to sign up for the Spring Tour.  Registration is time-sensitive and space is limited.  Please follow the schedule of payments in this packet for all trip payments. All students, siblings, and guests pay the same trip fee and receive the same access to skiing and other attractions while on the trip.  There is a $50 discount for parent chaperones who sign up in the Early and Regular Registration time periods.  Also, we have to point out that once your payment is received, we incur costs and we start planning for you to attend the trip, so all payments are non-refundable and non-transferrable. We strongly suggest purchasing 3rd party travel insurance.
